Jam Jar

As I have finished most of my homework for the summer (I think :S) I have decided to have a nice relaxing day! I think I'll start by watching a film (maybe, Confessions of a Shopaholic). Also I may have some lovely chocolate and listen to some music! Ever since I watched the film 'The Boat that Rocked', I have really began to enjoy 'The Kinks' music! I think that's going to have to be put on the ipod, along with the best of 'Blondie'. What a fantastic day, lined up! ;)
As you can probably see in the picture above my grandpa, has the most amazing vegetable garden at the back of his house. Ever since I was little he has grown so many vegetables in this rather large patch. Recently my Grandpa has started to pick plums to make jam. I just love the way he packages it! Its so adorable! :)

Later tonight, I am off to the O2 with some of my friends, to go for a meal and to watch the new film 'The Ugly Truth'. I can't wait to see this actually, I have wanted to see it for a while, so when Debra arranged this I jumped at the chance to go. I do love going to London with my friends! :D

Watching the last 'Desperate Romantics' yesterday evening, was really good. I really enjoyed this series. It was about a group of artists, known as the Pre-Raphaelite brotherhood: Dante Gabriel Rossetti , John Millais, William Holman Hunt, and a fictional character known as Fred Walters. The programme is about their struggle to become established artists. It is such a funny programme, but last nights episode was extremely sad. Lizzie Siddal who is Rossetti's sweetheart and later wife, has a very sad end, which made me cry. The actress Amy Manson, was brilliant at this part! I was also in love with her hair! It was so pretty. Apparently in this programme her hair was a wig.

However, they have definitely left room for series 2 of 'Desperate Romantics' as there is still quite a lot of the story left. The programme has a funny ending as well, which was good :)

When I went on Amanda's blog from 'http://amandaatkins.blogspot.com/' I was so happy to see that she was having a giveaway! I love her art work she is very talented and she is such a lovely girl! It is only 2 days until I go away to Center Parcs with my friend Madison and her family for 4 days. I can't wait! :) We have lots of fun activities to take part in: One of these is a treasure hunt, swimming, climbing, nature walks etc. It sounds brilliant! :) I will have many pictures to show you when I get back!

LOST

As you may well know I am rather obsessed with the American TV series 'Lost'. It really is fabulous! I think as the series are moving on I'm actually enjoying it more and more. The fact that you have to remember, link and unravel the scenes makes it so much more enjoyable to watch.
At the end of the last series, I was so intrigued what was actually going to happen, as the characters were stuck in the 1970s. Juliet (one of my favourite characters) has her fate left in the hands of the Lost writers; when she falls down a shaft due to the electromagnetism.

I completely loved the fact that Sawyer and Juliet got together. They had such a cute relationship. Sawyer actually started to settle down and they had a real life going for them. However this was disrupted when some of the characters: Jack, Kate, Syid, Hurley, Locke and Sun came back to the island for unknown reasons... Oh its so intriguing! I need to know what happens next! :) Guess I'll have to wait until February like everyone else.

I've begun to watch the programme from the first series to see if I can pick up on any secrets which may give me an idea of where the programme is actually going. I've picked up on some interesting points like:

.Series 1= Locke has 1 white eye and 1 black eye. The reference of white and black is constantly shown throughout the show. (White + black checkers, white + black stones, white and black subtitles).

.Series 2= Hurley and Syid hear 1940s music on the walky talky. Syid says it could be coming from any where close, or far away. Hurley says 'Or anytime'. This could suggest that the island is moving in time all the way through the drama, this is why no one can find them.

My favourite characters in the show are:

.Charlie (I hope he comes back. He did die, but this is Lost so who knows!)

.Juliet (Such a nice character)

.Sawyer (Josh Holloway is lovely :)

.Miles and Hurley (They are hilarious together!)

I do love the fact that you can never quite guess what is going to happen. The writers are so clever to actually remember tiny details of their show. Their office must be composed of so many post-it notes! ;)

Results :)

I woke up extremely nervous today. It was my A/S results day. When I got to college we had to go to the letter of our last name. As soon as I got my envelope, I rushed over to my friends and we all opened them... I passed! :) I got double A in Health and Social Care and a 'B' in English Language! I think these have been my best results! I feel so happy :) All of my friends did really well, which was so good! After having a hug from my teacher and a picture taken by my other teacher, me and the girls went over to 'Langtons Park' and had a delightful picnic to celebrate! :) It was lovely! Well done everyone!

I just need to work as hard next year to maintain my grades so that I can get into the University I want to :)

Last night was exceptionally fun! We went to 'TGI Fridays' in Covent Garden (London) for Ambra and Debra's birthday :) We took so many pictures, tied balloons to the birthday girls, ate burgers and were very hyper. It was good times! :) We were mimes for the night! ;)

Summer sun

The weather here today has been really hot. My bedroom is normally like a saner even when it is not that warm, so today it is rather warm. My mum has been going round the house pulling the curtains across slightly to keep the house slightly cooler. Its meant to be one of the hottest days of the year today and I'm going to be on the tube later :s

I do declare that my friend Madison has really made me like 'Nylon' magazine now. When I was in 'WHSmiths' yesterday, I was hoping to come across the next issue of 'Lost' magazine, but instead I stumbled upon 'Nylon', I was really surprised they sold it because I always thought it was only central London shops which sold them. When ever we go into central London, we always make a little trip to 'Waterstones' where Madi can go and purchase her issue of 'Nylon' :) When I found out that they sold it just down the road practically, I just had to tell her.

Anyway I bought a copy to see what the magazine was like and I must say... It was FABULOUS! :) Its really easy to read and packed full of different things from clothes, music, films and celebrities. I can imagine Madi working for 'Nylon' because she is one of the most creative people I know. They would be lucky to have her on their team ;)

Sienna Miller's interview was really funny! And she generally seems like a really nice person. I saw her on 'Top Gear', but that was the only time I had really seen her. I love the advert she is in at the moment. Its really fun and happy! :)

When I turned the page I also saw an article about 'Tallulah Riley'. She is such a good actress and is in two of my most favourite films: 'St. Trinians', and 'The Boat That Rocked'. She spoke about her dog, who she has had to leave behind in England with her parents whilst she is living in America. He seemed like the cutest little thing. He broke into her room and made a basket out of her clothes and huddled up to them :) How cute!

Apparently a previous Nylon issue had a big article about 'Dominic Monaghan' in it! I love him and didn't even realise, otherwise that issue would have been being bought. :)

I also got a new dress yesterday. It's more of a Autumn/Winter dress but it is really nice :)

Tonight should be so much fun! I'm going to a joint birthday meal, for my friends Ambra and Debra. They aren't sisters but their birthdays are only two days apart! Happy Birthday girls! :)

'TGI Fridays' in London is one of the best places. It really is! :)

I do love a good book :)

As from yesterday I have started selling some books on www.amazon.co.uk. I'm not sure if they will sell but I might as well give them a go. At the moment I'm selling a lot of art books of my mum's as she has just finished doing a module on her degree.

Yesterday was quite a good but quiet day. Firstly me and my parents went to an old barn, as there was a farm sale on. I got some really nice chocolate biscuits (Yum!)

My cat Kit was extremely funny and seemed to practically fall asleep on my dad's back! Kit did look ever some comfy and cute though.

The weekend was really fun! I went to the library for my second day volunteering with the 'summer reading challenge' on Saturday from 2-3:30pm. The number of children that attend has definitely grown which is really good. We had 35 children this week :)

Then in the afternoon/evening, I went round to Madison's house for a nice night in. It was so much fun! After trying to make a pizza (From Scratch) we munched on cakes that Madi's mum makes. They are LOVELY! and then we played board games, badminton, watched 'Stuck On You', star gazed in the back garden and I even saw a shooting star! :D I found this so strange as we were talking about this earlier in the evening. It was a fabulous night (Thanks Madison :)

I feel like watching Bridget Jones Diary 2 later and continuing my personal statement.That's all I have planned for today really.

A little while ago...

At about Easter time, before I started this blog, I did some work experience at a local special needs school. I really, really enjoyed myself and the children were some of the nicest people I have ever met. They were so happy and made me smile every Friday for 10 weeks. It was so interesting to work with the children and I even got to go on a school trip with them to 'When the tiger came to tea'. It was so much fun! On my very last week (which was the week before they broke up for Easter) I was thrown a tea party by the teachers and the class. There was cake and biscuits. That's for sure, I was never hungry at the school! They would feed me so much food and I would gladly receive it! :) This school was where I realized my love of tea ;) It was generally like a big family; every one cared for each other so much! It was lovely :) Just as I was about to leave they presented me with THE nicest white chocolate 'Thornton's' Easter egg! It was lovely (YUM!) and gave me a card, which every time I read it, it makes me smile. One little boy even picked flowers for me :)

This was quite a random post but I was looking at the card the other day and it seemed to strangely inspire me to write a blog post. :)

In further news... I had a driving lesson today. Normally I just go road this life size track called 'The Cardrome'. I really like it but today my instructor said 'I think its time we went on the road' My stomach immediately hit the floor with nerves and excitement. I think I preferred not necessarily knowing when I was going to go onto the road because otherwise the nerves would have really kicked in. I am so terrified of stalling the car! :s We went outside and drove on some pretty large roads for about 15 minutes. It was really interesting and nice to go at a speed of 30, instead of my usual speed, 25 :s. My instructor is extremely funny and always gives me a nature lesson. He makes me laugh so much! :)

Bowling and the letter 'M'...

Yesterday was so much fun! Ambra, Debra, Madison, Dawn, Ricky, Joe and I went to Romford to go bowling. This was the first time I had been bowling in years :) It was so much fun! (I got a strike, whilst Madi got about 4!) Ambra won this game of bowling and got a score of something like 110, whilst I was still only down on 94. Well done Ambra!


Afterwards we went to 'Pizza Hut' across the other side of Romford in Dawn's little car (When I can drive I am so going to have to drive her places!) After chatting for ages about Madison's 18th in January we tucked into pizza. We all have to go to her party as something beginning with the letter 'M'. I was thinking 'Marilyn Monroe', but has anyone else got any good suggestions? :)

As 'Pizza Hut' is situated in a little retail park we went to pets at home, where Ricky made a friend and Ambra miraculously conceived a baby bump! (Long story :)

Then we chatted outside for about 2 hours! It was so much fun and was really nice to meet Ricky and Joe :)

I do love 'Jam and Jerusalem'

I'm so happy because my favourite TV show has come back onto BBC1! 'Jam and Jerusalem' is such a hilarious programme and if anyone ever needs to be cheered up this is the programme to watch :)

The programme is set in Cornwall, in the country and is about a bunch of women who belong to the women's institute. Most of the characters are all bonkers (in a good way) apart from one woman called Sal and her friend Tipper. This is what makes it so good. Its about her life in the country as a practice nurse, whilst she is surrounded by vibrant and interesting people.

Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders (who wrote the series) star in it. My favourite episode was in series two when the programme was set in Glastonbury.

Tash is my favourite character. She's extremely dippy hippy and acts like a funny, stroppy teenager even though shes meant to be about 35!

The new series has only just started and this is series 3. I can't wait to see what Jennifer Saunders has in store for the characters next.
I don't know if the show is shown anywhere else in the world, but if it is I one hundred percent recommend it! :)

Tonight there is a really good programme on called 'Desperate Romantics' this is about a group of painters and is also really funny! There is some good stuff on television at the moment.

I must admit I do like shopping. I really should try and save my money but the trouble is its the summer holidays and I just love the opportunity to go out with my friends. Theres very little that is actually free to be honest! But yesterday I went with Dawn and Ambra (Madison was going to come but she didn't feel very well. Hope you feel better Madi! :) to Lakeside. Its a gigantic shopping centre :) We looked in lots of shops and especially zoomed in on 'H + M' (Sophie works there and its great to keep help company whilst she is doing some over time) I got a FABULOUS 80s style top which I just love! :) I shall be wearing that when I go out bowling tomorrow ;)


The other night my friend Madison came over and we arranged the activities we are planning to do in Center Parcs. Madi invited me to come with her and her family to Center Parcs in 17 days :) I can not actually wait! It shall be so much fun! Thanks for inviting me Madi! :D

Library, Big Fish and Adventure Island

I must admit this morning I was ever so nervous. I was starting my new voluntary job at the library; I don't even know why I got quite so scared. It may have been because I was going somewhere where the people were unfamiliar, but anyway when I got there it was so cute and much more fun than I had expected!

Its called the 'Summer Reading challenge/Voyage' and young children are able to come and explain their books to you, whilst I asked them some basic questions. I then gave them stickers to put onto their poster. They also get to move their picture along the wall and this adds up to how many books they have read. It was really very sweet and I feel much more confident now. I really do need to stop worrying! :)

Yesterday I went with 4 of my friends to 'Adventure Island' in Southend which is about 40 minutes away from where I live. Dawn very kindly offered to drive us in her 'Hello Kitty' car ;)

We decided to go in the evening as we are students and the tickets are half price from six o'clock.

It was so much fun and such a laugh. I'm not the biggest fan of roller coasters. I like the ones that don't go upside down but other than that I'm a bit of a scardey cat. I like Adventure Island because most of the rides apart from 4 are non-upside down rides so it was all good! :)

My favourite ride was the water ride but we decided not to go on it this time because judging by how very wet the people got, and the fact that it was nearly closing time were weren't really feeling it (but maybe next time). We went on the 3 dragon roller coasters, the haunted house, the mine train, the whip, the spinney Pharaohs ride, Sky drop and Ramba Zamba! It was so much fun and really made my day :) Sophie, Dawn and Ambra were so brave they all went on 'Rage' which has soooo many loops its unreal, but me and Madison decided to leave that one out and be bag holders :)

After we went and got chips and sat on the beach taking lots of pictures and then we got some vanilla Ice cream (Yes, a healthy diet= But we were at the beach so it just had to be done!)At Amanda's (over at Amanda Atkins in a Canary Forest) recommendation I decided to watch 'Big Fish' by Tim Burton and the final verdict was... AMAZING! I really enjoyed it. I loved the scenery and the characters. The costumes were lovely and even though the ending was sad it made the story! Thanks for the advice Amanda! :)I really hope everyone is having a lovely summer time! Its quite hot here today which is nice :)

Tim Burton's new film...

Wowowowowow!

When I first heard about this new film I was so excited! To think that Walt Disney's 'Alice and Wonderland' is being re-made and has Johnny Depp starring as the 'Mad Hatter' :)

I used to love the original 'Disney- Alice and Wonderland', I hope this is as good as it looks.

Unfortunately it isn't out until 2010 but still that's not too far away considering we are in August already. (Which I can not believe!)

I haven't seen many Tim Burton films apart from 'Edward Scissor Hands' and 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' but this looks fabulous! Helena Bonham Carter is also in it. She is definitely one of my favourite actresses. She is so different and her style in every day life is so quirky, I love it :)

Wow! I feel so happy at the moment! :) I've only been in the blogging world for about 2 months and all the lovely people I have met have made me feel so welcome. All the lovely comments and to receive two awards... well its just fantastic! :)

Caitie over at the wonderful blog 'My antiquated cup of tea' has given my blog an 'You are a great read' award! I feel very privileged to have gotten this award as it makes me feel as though my blog is interesting for other people to read. Thank you so much Caitie!

I can't wait for Friday because I'm going to Southend in the evening with friends. They have a great beach theme park there and even though some rides I'm a bit scared of, I love the water rides they have there. Pictures will be posted on that topic also! :)

Ohh blog I've missed you!

At around 12:15pm this afternoon I arrived back from a rather lovely holiday in Dorset :) Even though we take regular yearly trips to Dorset, this year was especially good!

On the 25th of July 2009 we left for a 7 day trip. When we got there, the weather was beautiful, however the rain and fog did set in on several days during the week. Lyme Regis was where we stayed, and the cottage looked over the sea which was very pretty!

On Saturday we browsed around Lyme Regis;

and in the evening there were pretty fireworks! :)

Sunday consisted of going to Thomas Hardy's birth place (such a cute little cottage!) and then off to Sherbourne Castle:


On Monday we went to Abotsbury gardens and walked up and stared at lots of sheep!

Tuesday we went to the Donkey Sanctuary. I love this place. Over different areas of Britain a very kind lady has set up sanctuaries for abandoned, abused or donkeys who's owners simply can not look after them any more. The place is lovely and the people are so kind:

The worst day for weather was on Wednesday so we took this as an opportunity to go shopping in Clarks village (a freeport) I got some LOVELY shoes! :)

Then we went to an old fashioned village known as Morwellham Quay, on Thursday. It is really good and has little shops all set up with sweets, books etc. The little school there is just adorable! :) I know this sounds weird... but I loved a wooden gate by the farm it was like I had stepped into an episode of 'Lark Rise to Candleford'! I also fell in love with a beautiful horse called Jack. He was a cart horse and so sweet! One of my favourite authors also writes her books based on the Devon area so I decided to get two more of her books that I hadn't read. To my surprise when I opened them I found that they had both been signed! I was very happy! :)

Because Lyme Regis is quite a drive from where we live in London, we decided to stay in Lyme Regis yesterday. It was really nice, we sat on the beach, went for a walk, had the best sandwiches ever! and then looked around some shops and ate Ice cream (Mint Choc Chip= My favourite :p)

On the very first day I had eyed a sweet little vintage shop in Lyme and was determined to buy something. When I got there yesterday I found a cute little 1950s dress. It does need some repairing but that shouldn't take much :) I love it!

Then as it was our last evening my parents and I went down to 'By the bay' (a really nice restaurant) and I got to wear my new shoes! :)

We even saw wild horses and ponies :)
