Hi everyone,

I'm so sorry I haven't been up dating my blog recently, its just I've had so much coursework to do. I'm going to try and update my blog every weekend for the time being :)

Quite a lot has happened in this long week. Apart from college I am pleased to announce that one of my best friends Sophie past her driving test!! :) I'm so happy for her, she's wanted to drive pretty much since I've known her and now she can! Well done Scophs! ;)

Sophie only lives over the road from me and its great that she is kind enough to drive me around :) On the day of her well kept secret test, I got a text from her saying she had past and she said she would drive me home from college. In the end we had a VERY large detour around most of Essex hehe. She drove to Lakeside and we went through a McDonald's drive through (has to be done when people pass their tests in our local area ;) She even treated me to a Mcflury! :D

On Friday I had my work experience again. I actually really enjoyed it this week. I even met a 'big shot' of the NHS and they know my name! I got invited to the nurse's tea party that was happening to raise money for the Macmillan's nursing cancer scheme.

Normally I have been finishing my work experience really late, but this week they said I could go early. Sophie had originally said that she was going to pick me up (to which I was very grateful) but because I finished early I began to walk back because she was still at college. However, she still came to pick me up (to my delight) and then we decided to go to Romford (a good shopping place near to where we live) in her black KA :)

I bought a lovely pair of grey leggings and a long black strappy top from H +M (always useful to have) I also got a really pretty red long shirt from New Look but that is going to have to go back because the hole can not be repaired which is a shame :(

Soph bought a nice shirt and some other items from H + M where she works.

We also went for a long drive after shopping as well which was so much fun!


I went to London with Madison and Debra yesterday afternoon where we sat in St. James Park and ate muffins and mint choc. chip ice cream (my favourite!) :)
It was fun but Madison wasn't very well, as she had a rotten cold and now I seem to have picked up a cold that has been going around my college so I feel a bit yucky today...

Is it just me or is any one else looking forward to Christmas? I can't wait and it's my 18th birthday soon as well, which I am excited about! I love going Christmas shopping. I love the atmosphere of the decorations and being able to snuggle up inside a warm coat, gloves, scarf and hat (I own a lot of beret's by the way ;)

Back to blogging and 'Land Girls' review

Hi everyone!

I'm so sorry I haven't updated my blog this week, I just went back to college and I've been very busy.

College has been quite good although I'm already beginning to feel stressed with my work but I'm sure it will sort itself out if I work at it.

On Friday I had my second day at the elderly hospital I am undertaking my work experience. It was much better than last week and I learnt so many more skills. It was really helpful actually! I'm glad it was better this week :)

I remember a few weeks ago I said I would do a review on 'Land Girls' for you all. It was so fantastic that I really hope they make some more episodes. I think all you vintage girls (and boys) out there would really really enjoy it. The costumes were gorgeous and all the characters were completely different which made it so much more interesting.
The first episode started off with two new land girls starting a new post. Nancy is the city girl who does not want to be there and Joyce was a sweet little one who everybody loves. They arrive at the farm where they will be living for years and are introduced to farmer Finch, his son Billy, the land lady Esther, her little boy and two other land girls: sisters Annie and Bea.
Annie's husband is away fighting and Bea has lied about her age to join up so she can escape her father's strict ways. Billy is in love with Bea the whole way through the series but in the first episode Bea meets an American soldier who woes her and leaves her pregnant causing difficulties for her the whole way through. Nancy is such a funny character... On her first night she sneaks into the owner's house to have a bath. It's a good job the nasty owners husband is nice because he manages to cover for her so his wife will never know. However, this causes an affair to take place as they both fall in love with each other.
Whilst working on the land Joyce begins to miss her husband who is in the RAF. Once out delivering goods one day she bumps into a stranger who is in fact her husband. She is so happy to see him but when she finds out he has deserted she persuades him to go back, but it is not quite as simple as it is made out to be.
After finding out Bea is pregnant, Annie does her best to help her troubled sister but this does not mean she has know problems of her own. She seems to have married her husband to escape her father but the couple may not have been in the right place when they were married. She receives a telegram one day telling her that her husband has been killed in action and she is very upset. One day whilst working on the farm Annie meets a man whose mother is seriously ill. She does her best to help him and his mother but she sadly passes away. But 3 months later the two begin to see more of each other and Annie begins to experience feelings I don't think she ever felt about her husband. Once being with this new man she then receives a complete shock when she realises her husband is still alive but he is very badly hurt.
Billy decides that he wants to help Bea with her new baby and goes ahead to propose to her; but when he does this she goes into labour! :)
The couple do end up together and they do get married which was so unbelievably cute! :)
Nancy and the Lord continue their affair but to the shock of the audience he is killed in a shooting, where he saves Annie's new boyfriend from the mad game keeper who has been causing trouble the whole way through the series. This was so sad to watch, I just did not expect it to happen, then again they were planning to run away together which probably showed that it would not happen, it would be much to simple wouldn't it?
The story does have a nice ending though. Annie's husband comes back but he is seriously burnt but I'm not sure whether they actually get back together. I hope they do. Nancy decides to go home on emotional leave, due to the pain of being in the same place as where she spent all this time with the Lord. The ending is almost the beginning... Two new girls join up who are very like the characters of Joyce and Nancy and the story almost begins again.

(It really was very very good, but I have missed several points out, so I'm sorry about that. It was much better than I explained it to be :s hehe)

Apparently they did a 1940s style episode, which looks so good! :) I hope I get to watch it at some stage. What a good idea to adapt the characters into!

I almost forgot to mention the lovely Sab from http://thereisnosuchthingasperfect.blogspot.com/, for giving me a fantastic blog award! Her blog was one of the first I ever found when I had just started blogging land and she is such a sweet girl with such a good taste in music! Her blog is full of her day to day notes on life and is really interesting to read! Thank you Sab! :)
I will definitely be passing this award onto some other great bloggers in my next post :)

I had such a brilliant time round Madison's house last night! We listened to 'The Beatles' and watched Derren Brown which was so clever I don't even understand! Thanks Madison! :)

Lets go back to the 1980's :)

This week has been rather busy! On Thursday I went back to college to collect my new time table. It was great to see my form again as they are my Health and Social Care class as well and I haven't seen them all in ages! I was so happy to find out that I am in Madison's English Language class. I have never been in any classes with her and so I can't wait to actually see her more at college! :)
On Friday I started my work experience at an elderly people's hospital. I didn't enjoy it as much as my other placements which involved working with children. But the doctor there was really nice and he showed me all different methods of how to go about treating a person. I've got 9 more Fridays at this placement so I have decided it doesn't really matter if I don't enjoy it as much as the other placements because I know I want to work with children as hopefully a paediatric nurse! :)

In the evening it was lovely to go and have a meal with my best friends (-Debra who couldn't make it :() We went to 'Frankie and Bennie's' and had a fabulous meal. We all had such a laugh. I can't believe I said to the waiter 'Can I have a burger please?' At this remark my friends started to laugh and I realised I hadn't actually specified what type out of the 12 I would like (Ohh dear! haha).

So yesterday I had yet another busy day. I had driving first thing which actually went surprisingly well. The last few lessons hadn't been going so well but it was quite fun this time :)
After I met Miss Madison in Romford to achieve our sneaky plan at getting our hair curled. It worked for half our hair but not the rest :s This was all for the surprise 80's party that we were attending in the evening in a cute little church hall in Chelmsford :)

When we got to the party I had such a fabulouzo time! Madzy went as 'Desperately Seeking Susan' and I went as a girl from 'Fame'. I've never been to a surprise birthday party before and the excitement of it all was so amazing! When Karen arrived we all yelled surprise and I don't think she could quite believe it. It was so lovely. As usual Tracy made her super cakes and the food their was all lovely. Some people had made such an effort in what they were wearing! Madison's mum even had her original dress from the 1980's, from when she was 17/18! :)

After many hours of dancing to classic 80's tunes e.g. Bon jovi and 'Girls just wanna have fun', we made our way home from Chelmsford in the dark. Tracy was very good a navigating since the sat nav was quite slow :)

It was such a fun night and has made me really want to watch '13 going on 30' which I think I shall do later today.

I'm back at college tomorrow and I have English Language first with Madison :) Should be fun!

A whole lot of happenings in one little blog post!

So today I finally go back to Sixth Form College! I can't believe the summer is over and that I am now in upper sixth! I don't feel old enough to be in upper sixth! But I am ;)

Today is only my induction, where I get my time table (which I can't wait to see) etc.
Tomorrow I start my work experience which takes place every Friday for 10 weeks. I've enjoyed all of my other work placements so so much; but I must confess that I am a bit nervous about this one as some of my class mates who also took some experience here have said that it is not the best of placements. However, I am going to go in with positive thoughts and try to take care of the elderly as best as possible :)

As my mum is a textile artist, me and my dad went with her to her private view in Cambridge yesterday. I have never been to Cambridge before and wasn't really expecting much, but it is just lovely! The city is very old fashioned looking and the famous University covers so much of the ground. I really enjoyed looking through this historic place. My mum's work looked wonderful in the gallery. I am very proud of her work! :)

For this past week I have been so eager for the wonderful 'Amanda Atkins' picture to arrive. Every morning I have been going out to my mail box to see if there is any sign. This morning I went down stairs to look outside and I saw a rather large envelope sticking out of the post box. I was so excited I ran in doors and opened the envelope. Inside was the beautiful painting and some stickers and a card. I love receiving letters so much! Thank you so very much Amanda I completely love the picture and am going to get a frame for it as soon as possible! :)
For those of you who know Amanda or visit her blog you will know that she is a fantastic artist who I think one day will achieve real success, like she deserves. her pictures always make me smile and the 'Tattooed Lady' is one of my favourite pieces of hers.

I've realised recently that I have been doing a lot of film and programme reviews, I'm sorry about that. Its just I keep coming across new films everyday that I just have to write about :)
Yesterday I watched 'The Boat That Rocked'. I love this film! When I saw it in the cinema I just couldn't stop laughing. The actors are all splendid at their parts and Bill Nighy is just so so funny! :) The music is just great!

This morning whilst doing my hair I finished watching 'The Edge Of Love'. I must admit that I wanted to see this film in the cinema but never really got round to it. However on my rather delightful shopping trip with my friends, Madison suggested that she thought I would like it. So at the cost of £5.00, I bought it to see what I thought. The final conclusion is... BRILLIANT! It was so good. Its not a particularly happy film, but it is a real drama. There's quite a lot of tension in it to. Vera (Keira Knightly) and Caitlin (Sienna Miller) become best friends, however Dylan Thomas who is Vera's childhood sweetheart is now married to Caitlin. But it is through this marriage that Vera and Caitlin meet. There is always a connection between Vera and Dylan, but then Vera receives an admirer who is a solider, William. The couple become married but he is sent off to war. There's a shock though, something that I didn't really see coming... Vera is pregnant. Whilst William is away Dylan and Vera become closer only to make Caitlin feel very rejected. Caitlin starts having affairs but so does Dylan. Then William comes back from the war. He has changed a lot due to his horrific experiences and his growing jealousy of Dylan and Vera's close relationship causes even more depression to set in. In the end William believes that Rowan is his son and not Dylan's and becomes much closer to his family again. But Dylan and Vera fall out because of his treatment and lies against William. The ending is both sad and happy. Vera and Caitlin remain friends but Caitlin leaves the house next door with Dylan and her son to start a fresh new life.

I would definitely recommend this film although if you watch it be prepared to cry, so have some tissues at the ready! ;)

I'm watching the mini series of 'Land Girls' at the moment. It is one hundred percent one of the best programmes on T.V. and all of you vintage girls (and boys) out there would just love it. I'll write more about it once the series is over at the end of the week to give you a full review/report.

Sunshine, Oxford Street and 'The Edge Of Love'...

What lovely weather it has been here in London today! Some friends and I went on a much needed shopping trip to Oxford Street today. I must say it was so much fun but I feel majorly tired!
I did buy quite a lot today. Our first stop was 'Topshop'. In Oxford street they have one of the biggest 'Topshops' on the planet! seriously it is huge! It has three floors, two just for clothes and one for accessories! :o. Madison loves her accessories! ;) I was so happy as well because they have obviously only recently started selling real vintage pieces, clothes and bags. I fell in love with a bag, it was navy and red and would go so well with my new jumper (sigh!) however, it was £65 and just slightly out of my budget! So it had to be put back.
I think everybody bought something in 'Topshop' today which was good. Madison bought a really nice nautical cardigan and some 'Foxy' socks as we like to call them, Sophie bought some rather funky socks, Ambra bought some more of her favourite tops and I bought a 1980s style jumper :)
After this we stopped off in 'H+M'. Sophie works in one near to where we live and we are always so appreciative of her discount (hehe thanks Soph! :) I got a much needed jumper dress which is for my winter wardrobe, Soph got ALOT of things from tops to dresses etc. Ambra was the good one and managed to resist the temptation and Madison bought some rather nice jeans.
By this time we were so hungry, we decided to go to get some lunch. As usual our destination for fine dining was 'Pizza Hut' (haha!) I opted for a nice pasta this time which was very nice I must say ;)

After chatting and eating lots of 'Jellybeans' we made our way to see if the new 'Nylon' issue had been released in 'Waterstones', but it hasn't been yet :( Hopefully soon though :)

Sophie's new obsession with 'Zara' allowed us to pop in there. I have never bought anything in 'Zara' before, but today I found the nicest bag I have ever seen! It has patch work all over and is so colourful! I loved it so I bought it! :)

After this we went into 'HMV'. At Madison's recommendation I bought 'The Edge Of Love'. I've just watched half of it and it is so good! I'm hoping to watch the next half tomorrow :) I'm really happy Madison suggested it because it is so good. Keira Knightly is brilliant like always and then Sienna Miller was also amazing! You go girls! ;) I will write a proper review once I have watched all of the film :)

Ambra was going to buy a lovely coat :s (haha!) but she opted not to. (She didn't really like it) Soph got a nice winter woolen jacket and Madz got a rather nice 'college' jumper as I called it :)

Then we went to the world known 'Selfridges'. We didn't buy anything because it was way too expensive! But it was so nice to browse and have a look.

'Primark' was the last place we went to but by this time Madi and I felt so tired so we just stood by a wall (lol) Sophie bought most of the shoes in 'Primark' (haha) and Ambra got a nice bag and some boots also.

At about 5:00pm, we decided to call our rather fabulous and long shopping trip a day and made our way home.

It was so much fun and we even got scouted on the streets of Oxford Street by 'Blackberry' for London Fashion Week (ahhhhh! :) They took our picture and then we were entered in a competition! You never know, but whoever the lucky winner is I hope they have a great time! :)

So my dog likes 'The Beatles'!

Okay, so yesterday evening my house decided to have a 'Beatles' night. From about 8pm my T.V was devoted to the Beatles documentary that was on, their music and then their film 'Help!'. Last time I watched the film, I was about 15 so it was really good to see it again. At the start they all walk into what you think are their separate houses, but behind closed doors, their houses are all joined together. It is so funny! I must admit that recently I have really begun to love 'The Beatles' music! My dad has always been a big fan of their music and so the Cd's are definitely getting put onto my ipod! :)

When we were watching the programme my dog Teddy showed a real interest in 'The Beatles'. It was so funny! He jumped up at the screen and was watching them strum away at their guitars and sing their hearts out :) Then later he started to watch John Lennon singing. My dog is a strange little thing, but does have a good taste in music! :)

Musical review: The Stripper (not what you think ;)

Well last night after my driving lesson (which didn't go as badly as last week) I went along with my parents to our local Theatre in the town's centre. I haven't been in the theatre for well over a year, and it is a shame because it is such a nice place. Full of lots of different plays from pantomime, comedy, romance, mystery and horror. The play I went to see was called 'The Stripper'. It was originally a book by Carter Brown and the actor Richard O'Brien (who created and starred in 'The Rocky Horror Show' and Richard Harley decided to develop the story into a musical production. I must say it was really very good. When I first heard about it I wasn't too sure to be honest. But I was wrong, it was hilariously funny but also a little bit sad.

The play was based in America in the 1960s. The story begins when a woman is killed but people aren't too sure who, or why the murder took place. The woman 'Patty' has a cousin in the American City as well, who the police lieutenant immediately question, she is a stripper named 'Deadpan Dolores'. It turns out that Patty went to a dating agency and came into contact with the two owners who are not what they seem, the owner of the club where Dolores dances and his assistant. Harvey stern who is the man who Patty has had a date with is the local florist and has come into contact with all of the above before. He was the funniest character I thought (He was in the West End version of 'Guys and Dolls', which I saw for my 14th/15th birthday with Patrick Swazee in it:) Harvey did not appreciate his date with Patty as he thought she was boring. However he phones the sheriffs office to confess what he knows but by the time Al Wheeler (The lieutenant) has arrived he has been killed. The song he sings at this point is so funny and the actor who plays Harvey 'Jack Edwards' is hilarious. This murder leads to yet more clues for Al Wheeler who with Dolores' help, is able to solve the case. It turns out it was the club owners assistant who did it, but all of the dating agency owners and the club owner all has a part to play in the crime.

The play was so good and is going on tour this year around England. Apparently if it does well it is going to be placed in a West End theatre :) I hope it does because it really is very good and funny.

The set of the play was amazing! It all interlocked with each other and had loads of different scenes based in different places. I like it when scenes have different sets because it gives you something different to analyse. The costumes were also brilliant and typical of the 1960s. I loved Dolores' hair. It was short and blonde like Marilyn Monroe's :) The men also wore suits and perfect vintage shoes. It was a brilliant vintage style play :)

The jazz band were really brilliant as well! The music they played set the scene and the era perfectly. They were amazing musicians! :)

In other news...

Today was my last day volunteering at the library :( I feel quite sad about it because it was such good fun and was a really nice past time to do. The people that worked at the library were lovely and so were the children. At least it gave me some experience and you never know they may have some more Saturday work for me to do at some time :)

At the moment I have an obsession with the song 'Breathe Me' by Sia :) I'm listening to it at the moment and just can't stop. It is a beautiful piece of music and she has such a lovely voice :)
I also can't wait for Amanda's art work to get here either :)

Time Warp Wives

Last night I was flicking through the channels and saw a programme on 'More 4', which I thought looked really interesting. It was called 'Time Warp Wives'. The programme was about 4 women mainly who lived their lives as if they were back in the past. Most of the people had modern jobs, but liked to dress vintage and decorate their homes in vintage styles. However, there was one woman who actually lived her life as if she was in the 1950s. Her and her husband looked the part definitely and she even had a job as a 1950s style singer as well as her full time job as being a housewife.
My favourite person was a girl called Sammi (picture above). She dressed as though she was from the 1940s. Her makeup, hair and clothes were immaculate! They really were. She had a modern job but dreamed of becoming a housewife in the future. She wanted the world to have the same values as the 1940s did. I think this is really very true. Today's world is very different from the world that came from the past.

My friends and I were saying just the other day that in the '2000s' there is not a specific fashion like there were in the '1900s'. So it will be interesting to see how people will dress in the future to represent this time :)

I honestly can't wait until Monday when 'Land girls' starts! I really hope it is as good as it sounds and looks. I will post about it when I have watched an episode, to fill you all in. :)

Cinema Reviews and other news...

Last night I went to see '500 Days Of Summer'. One of my friends has wanted to see this film since about January, when she had first heard about the film. When we got there we didn't think that the cinema would be overly busy, even though it was the first night it had been showing. However it was pretty packed.
The film did not disappoint either! I really really enjoyed it. Zooey Deschanel and Joseph Gorden Levitt were so good together. The clothes in the film were wonderful! I thought from the T.V adverts that the film was set in the past; but modern items like the 'WI Fit' kept popping up; so I think it was just their super cool fashion sense! :) They had such a vintage style and her hair was gorgeous!
Joseph Gorden Levitt also has a really good singing voice, which I did not know about until i saw this film. :)

The ending was so clever as well. But you'll have to see it to find out... he he.

I went to see another film at the start of last week. It was 'The Ugly Truth'. To be honest I wasn't too sure about this film. However once watching this in the O2, I completely changed my mind. It was one of those films which is just so hilarious. It made me laugh constantly and the characters were so funny. It also had a majorly cute little cat in it, which I fell in love with. :)

Anyway I would definitely recommend both films. They are both funny and so it just depends on the sort of story people fancy. I hope that other people have enjoyed these 2 films as much as I have! :)

In other news, I was so happy to log onto my account yesterday morning to see that I had won the blog-giveaway on Amanda's blog. I love her art work so much, it is so quirky and makes me smile, so when I got an email from her saying I had won the give away I was ecstatic! :) Thanks Amanda! I can't wait to receive the picture! :)

Today I have invited some friends over to have a girly day and a bit of a 'LOST' marathon! I'm very excited because I love it when friends come over and we just mess about!

Tomorrow I'm really quite nervous because I have a driving lesson and my last lesson didn't go as well as it could have :s I know the instructors have to shout but it makes you feel much more nervous... Anyway in the evening I'm off to see a play in my local theatre with my parents so that will be good and I will report back with much more information on the musical on Saturday!



There is also a new programme starting on BBC1 which I just can't wait to see. It's called 'Land Girls', and is about a group of girls and their lifes during the war. Enjoying a nice trip to Center Parcs :)

As you probably know I went to Center Parcs in Elevedon Forest with my friend Madison from (http://www.blog-me-famous.blogspot.com/) and her parents- Tracy and Brynley, sister Brooke and sister's boyfriend, Paul. It was fabulous! I had such an amazing time. Me and Madison went on a Pedalo, horse and carriage ride, played crazy golf and went on a katacanoe. It was BRILLIANT! Our little villa/lodge was the cutest. It was really cozy and was right in the middle of the forest but was only a short bike ride away from village square, where the shops, sports plaza and activities are located. Me and Madison are not particularly sporty and so poodled around doing random activities. On our first night was managed to get lost in the forest on the bikes we hired (Named: Eddy and Ernie) :s. We even managed to act out a Lost scene and Twilight scene. It was such a laugh. Being able to go to such a fun pact holiday with a best friend is always lovely :). The swimming pool is the best! It has rapids, lots of slides, including the secret slide ;) that me and Madzy found. The place also has a perfect little sweet shop. I knew the candy shop had to be good because it sold my two favourite sweets: Pear drops and Sugar mice! Perfection ;)
Madi was happy with this shop because it sold foam bananas, which are also scrummy! :)

I had such a good time and am so happy that they offered to take me on this 4 day adventure. Thanks Madison and family! :D
